8th Notes Pull-Off Work on Bottom Four Strings

6/2/2026

Given to a student using a B Standard Tuning Baritone Guitar, this exercise is focused on pull-offs performed on the bottom four strings.

It's important to make sure you have all your fingers down in advance prior to the pull-offs. When you're going to pull-off from fret 10, to 9, to 7, you NEED all of those frets held down and ready to go in order to play the best sounding pull-offs possible.

This was given to a student who is working on his scale runs.

This is descending down all 6 strings, playing each group of 3 notes twice before moving down to the next string, and done so in small bursts of notes using the rhythm 1n2-3n4-

Starting with small bursts of notes like this, aka: chunks, is great for those looking to play fast guitar scale runs.

Ascending 4 Note Coils - Two Positions - Beginner Friendly

6/1/2026

This was given to a student, who plays in D standard tuning, to help improve his alternate picking, as well as improving his finger dexterity.

This drill goes up in four note groupings, which I like to call 4-Note Coils.

This is good for those new to playing things like this on guitar, because of the half note break before you move up to the position in the second half.

6/1/2026

This was given to a student who tunes to D standard.

He is working on his scale runs and strict alternate picking.

To keep things simple, we still view the fretboard as if it were in E standard tuning.

This scale run practice ascends the 3 Notes Per String B Locrian shape, and descends the 3 Notes Per String C Ionian shape.
